As the sun sets on another year for The Stags community, The Stags Company reflects on a rollercoaster of a journey, marked by camaraderie, triumphs, and the unwavering spirit of our team. Let's delve into the highlights of our cricket season and share some exciting updates for the future.
Cricket Season Highlights: The Stags Team faced challenges head-on in the 2023 cricket season, playing a total of four games. With two wins and two losses, it was a rollercoaster of a season.. ahah. Fun was had on and off the square as somehow we seemed to have games at grounds where a pub was a mere stones throw away. After a rather tricky season in terms of player numbers and cancelled games a special mention goes to Vice Captains Joel Pearce and Oliver Lowe for their outstanding commitment to the team, leading by example and putting in some sterling performances throughout the season. In fact Joel stated the season as a medo pacer and now he's a menacing off spinner... crazy. A big thank you has to go to the players who stepped in at the last minute when we were short as we would've missed a few games if they hadn't. Ryan Welch also deserves a mention for his commitment and general craic that he brings to the side, top bloke.
Looking Ahead: A Call for Improved Commitment: As I reflect on the past season, I can't help but feel slightly disappointed with the level of commitment shown by members of The Stags this year. Of course one can understand that people have other commitments apart from playing cricket and drinking with your fellow members. But we here at The Stags Company are trying to cultivate a bubbling community of like minds that will hopefully run on into the future and we can't do that without you, the members, players and spectators. We aim for even greater heights in the upcoming seasons, and that begins with a call for improved commitment from all our team members. I believe that with collective dedication we can have an amazing season next year and beyond.
Charity Dinner on the Horizon: In other exciting news, I'm exploring the possibility of hosting a Charity Dinner next summer. If any of you have any suggestions or ideas around this then please do not hesitate to get in touch. I want this event to be driven by all people associated with Stags and to find a house that we all can get behind and support fully. I'm looking forward to creating an event that hopefully builds on what we have already created together and gets the ball rolling for future events.
Stags Cast coming in 2024: Early next year The Stags Company will be launching a new podcast. Although I have labelled it "Stags Cast" I am still unsure of an actual name. The podcast will drop once a month and be around 30-45mins long as I know the attention span of the average human is dropping every day and I'm no Joe Rogan. Really looking forward to this one and I can't wait to share it with you. I would tell you what its about but that would ruin the wait so yeah.. just keep a look out in January.
A Heartfelt Thank You: Before I wrap this up, The Stags Company extends a sincere thank you to all our supporters, players, and members. Your enthusiasm, passion, and unwavering support have made 2023 an unforgettable year. As I eagerly anticipate 2024, I look forward to more memorable moments, both on and off the cricket field.
To share your thoughts on the Charity Dinner or for any input on Stags Cast, please get in touch. Let's make the upcoming year even more remarkable together. Cheers to The Stags Company and the exciting journey that lies ahead!
All the best chaps,
Oscar.
