Hello Chaps,
What a season it has been. Rather more successful in terms of wins than I had expected and for that, I am more than happy. We have had star performances from so many players and if I were to touch on every moment that arguably warranted mentioning this article would go on and on! There have been some standout performances. Starting with Joe Pratt who has batted with such class this season with the runs never seeming to end! Toby Anderson's first full season with the Stags will go down as a great one. With 86 against Isfield shows that he has the skill with the bat to set the team in good stead when he gets his head down. I now want to acknowledge that amazing commitment that has been shown by many players this season by turning up to all of the games and always making themselves available which for me, has made life so much easier. Oliver Lowe deserves a massive shoutout as he has travelled down from London for every game and has put in a stellar performance on so many an occasion. Joel Pearce also, who has played so well been such a regular face for me throughout the season and has helped me with all things Stags and I thank him for his help over the summer!
Of course, I couldn't mention everyone that deserves to be recognised but as a whole, the team have been an absolute joy this year and I look forward to our winter social in earnest. There are of course areas to improve... indeed our fielding has been arguably the only thing that could do with some betterment but as a social cricket team I feel this might be too much to ask for!
We are only getting started on this journey as the Stags Cricket Club alongside the Stags Company and I hope that we continue to grow over the coming years. Thank you to all who have supported us since 2019 and continue to do so. It means so much to me and the team. Keep a watchful eye on this space as there are so many exciting things to come over the winter and into 2023.
