Hello chaps,
As August rolls on through, I thought it appropriate to have a little run through as to what has happened here at The Stags Company over the last couple of months. We've had a great season so far and much fun has been had. Whether that be on the cricket pitch or in the pub after the game.
Our game against Eastbourne College was a rather close one with The Stags only needing 10 runs off the last over. We didn't come away with the win, and quite right as if a bunch of old boys had managed to beat the current players at the school (who train 4 times a week and often play more than 1 match in that time period as well) I believe the cricket department would have to rethink their entire programme!
The second game of the season was against Isfield CC and took place on a lovely Sunday in June. After putting up a good total The Stags managed to bowl Isfield out with 7 overs to spare. Our first and only victory this year was a sweet one with many people coming to watch drinking the Stags sponsors finest beer courtesy of The Lakedown Brewing Co.
In July The Stags took on Waldron CC which was a repeat fixture from last years calendar. Waldron wanted revenge for the crushing defeat they sustained last year... and they got it. We narrowly missed out on the win due to only have 10 men and being a batsmen short. However on the bright side, it did mean we managed to get into the Star Inn for refreshments rather quicker than we imagined and this lead to a great social after the game alongside Waldron CC players.
Overall as I look back through the first half of the season I can't complain. We've actually played som decent cricket and had a laugh while doing it, which frankly is the whole point. I would say that The Stags could definitely improve in the field but beggars can't be choosers. As we head towards our last two games and the awards ceremony on the 11th September I wanted to thank everyone for their support and a massive thank you to the players of The Stags for coming to games making every game day such a fun and hilarious experience. I hope to see some of you at the last two games and as many of you as possible at our final game and awards ceremony.
All the best,
Oscar
